Tango BA Festival
& Mundial 2026

The Tango BA Festival y Mundial is the world’s largest official tango festival and championship, organized by the City of Buenos Aires. Every year, dancers, musicians and tango enthusiasts from over 50 countries come to celebrate Argentine tango through competitions, concerts, performances, classes and social dancing.

For two weeks, Buenos Aires transforms into the meeting place for the entire global tango community. The championship rounds take place in the city’s largest venues, official milongas run every night, and the streets, cafés and parks carry a particular energy that only exists during these two weeks.

The Competition

The World Championship

The championship is held in two official categories. Couples from dozens of countries participate each year, including winners of official preliminary championships held around the world throughout the year.

Tango de Pista

The social tango category. Couples are evaluated on musicality, connection, improvisation and their ability to dance naturally within the flow of the ronda — the way tango is danced every night in Buenos Aires milongas.

Tango Escenario

The stage category. Couples perform choreographed routines and are judged on technique, creativity, interpretation and stage presence. The Escenario final is one of the most spectacular evenings of the year.

Travel with Liviano

Our August group arrives
two days before the festival opens

The Liviano August group arrives on August 18 — two days before the Mundial officially begins. You’ll be settled, oriented, and ready when the city shifts into festival mode.

Pancho Martínez Pey — one of your private maestros during the trip — has been a member of the Mundial de Tango jury since the championship’s founding. He is a personal friend of your hosts and one of the central figures of this world. Being here with Liviano means being close to the people who are part of the championship, not just watching from the audience.

During your 8 days with us, you’ll have access to private lessons with world-class maestros, entry to handpicked milongas, daily support from your Buenos Aires hosts — and the full experience of the city during one of the most extraordinary two weeks in the tango calendar.

We handle everything. You simply arrive and dance.
